You won’t believe it... but cocktails were born in Mesopotamia, at least five thousand years ago. Those were mixtures of various drinks that gave rise to primordial grog or ponce. This was discovered by Patrick McGovern, one of the world’s leading experts in applied chemistry. The cocktail "Mesopotamia" was a sweet compound - the fashion of dry was far from coming - and it was a mixture of wine, beer, apple juice and honey.
